Turning Point

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 26, 2011, 3:32 PM
It's been just over a year now since I created the Art of Tomb Raider. With around 6500 amazing pieces of artwork, which increases daily, and around 900 members.. the mission is complete. The success of the group is because of all the amazing work submitted to the gallery. This groups success is thanks to all of you, the talented artists. The Art of Tomb Raider is only great because together all of your work makes up a rich & diverse art collection. Truly thank you for showing the world your talent. This is only the beginning so please continue doing what you all do best.. being creative..

Tomb Raider is at a turning point and for the first time it is going back to the very start. The new adventure may look and seem spectacularly different. However, The Lara that we know is still there, within a more fully realised character who simply hasn't evolved into that Croft we know.. yet! She will be realistic, a fully fleshed out person who has just taken her first baby steps in adventure. You'll witness her very first leap of faith.. & after surviving & solving the mystery, she'll be on track to becoming the fully fledged skilled Tomb Raider. I think Lara will resemble the Lara you adore at the end more than you think.. A rebirth, the origin of an icon..

The next year will be an exciting creative time for Tomb Raider and the Art of Tomb Raider.

:w00t: One year full of art emerging from fans' imagination till the -final- release  I think maybe we can re-write (or pre-write?) the whole story before its release (we have enough time, that's for sure!) :giggle:

congratulation on the group hope it will grow more =D

I was having some doubt about this new game but after the trailer couldn't agree more I just hope
- they will fix the voice acting in some parts
- make it long enough to keep us busy for a long time
- limited edition =D
- a glimpse on TR10=P

Congrats on the group! Its indeed great to see it grow and evolve like that ;) I'm experienced that same with my group of Popkes now, it really makes me happy :aww:

I haven't seen much of the latest Tombraider yet, other than a few pieces of artwork. To be honoust I do like the first games the best, but the last piece of artwork were pretty realistic. She is becoming more detailed every day which I like, but to me it also looses a bit of the things I recognize Lara by.

But I am curious to see the result ^^

I'm quite happy that Enix punched through for Crystal. I hope they merge, even though Crystal's graphic's have gotten a hell of a lot better over the years, Enix blows many companies out of the water. It would be too exciting to see what Crystal and Enix could punch out together on a yearly basis. <3

Indeed, the resources of Square-Enix has had a dramatic influence on the Tomb Raider brand. :D Which is most evident in the amazing Tomb Raider - Turning Point trailer which was created by the team that worked on the CGI film, Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children. :w00t:

Let's go a little sarcastic...

I'd say they were forced to go back in the past as they screwed up her future quite a bit, didn't they? ;)

Didn't the demonstration of Lara escaping the collapsing cave/sacrificial tomb capture the spirit of her classic tomb escapes? It reminded me of the adrenaline fueled rush to get out at the end of TRII. Except it was done in a more spectacular style, naturally, and instead of being at the end it is at the beginning.

Once you recover from the initial shock of so much detail, realism and of course excitement. Rub your eyes, to see clearly & if one looks closer the new adventure has more in common with the TR roots than it would seem.

I understand fan's uncertainty, shock & so on, both the good and bad. We've been by Lara the Tomb Raider's side up until now.. so how can anyone underneath any doubt not want to see what happens next. The new adventure is certainly waking up others to the brand who normally might walk by saying.. hmm same old, same old. So those who feel to alienated from TR now, should open their eyes. If there is anytime to give TR & Crystal Dynamics a last chance.. that last chance is most defiantly right now!

Why would anyone want to miss out on possibly the most significant & successful turning point for Tomb Raider?
